Happy Mother's Day....

Happy Mother's day to all of you.

I found that when I became a Mother that my appreciation of my own Mom increased a lot. So thanks Mom for everything you have done for us (I'm including my family and Mike, Russell and Tammy in that). I think the hardest thing about being a Mother (apart from the worry that started the minute we find out we are pregnant and my Mom assures me it won't stop even when they all move out of the house) is always wondering if you are doing the right thing. Mom, you did a wonderful thing. Every time I see a rainbow, I think of you. Every time someone needs help and they seem to look right at me for it, I think of you. Every time I hear laughter, I think of you. Every time we use the toilet plunger (long story), I think of you. Every time I walk into Church, I think of you. Every time I watch a black and white movie, I think of you. Every time I read a book and want to share it, I think of you. Every time I need a shoulder to cry on, I think of you. Thanks Mom for everything. You helped make me the wonderful (or so my kids told me today!) Mom I try to be.

On a Charlotte note. I swear I have no idea where this child comes up with this bloodthirsty need but here is the conversation in the van on the way to church this morning:

Kids in the back seat: Mine, let me, my turn, HEY... (all at once).

Jeff: Everyone needs to calm down back there! Now!

Kids in the back seat: What, stop that, give that to me, HEY!

Jeff: Did you hear me?

Charlotte: You better stop GUYS or I'll break your ARM!

Charlotte: I'll break you LEG too! AND you neck! So stop it.

Pause. Mom snickering. Dad asking what did she say. Quiet in the back seat.

Charlotte and Clara could have a lot of fun together. She usually just wants to take my head off though....
