We Had Her Birthday When Memaw Was In Town...

She loves her Memaw.

And she loved her birthday party. She wanted a penguin cake and presents. Not much to go on but we worked with it. (and I swear I brush her hair and then it just does what does)

We also celebrated her cousins birthday.
And because we love to torment our child we bought her a game that terrifies her. She and Georgia LOVE the movie Zathura. It is the next movie similar to Jumanji (the movie with Robin Williams and all the animals). In Zathura the brothers play a game that sends them to outer space. The Zorgons visit them. Massive destruction ensues. I saw the game at Target when we went shopping. I asked Georgia and Charlotte if I should buy the game. Their response was dead silence and then "NO!" "That's a BAD game" "Bad things happen" "NO MOMMA!" were just a few of the phrases they yelled as they scrambled away from the game isle. Needless to say after I told Jeff about it he went and bought it for Charlotte. The look on her face after all the joy of the other presents was priceless...

Oh, and the rubber snake she is holding was from her dad too. She loves that snake. What am I going to do. She also loves the game. She and Georgia will run through the house after moving their pieces screaming "The ZORGONS are coming!". Priceless I say.

She is Almost 4 Years Old....

On Friday she will be 4. My beautiful Char-baby. She can be the girlyist girl one minute to pulling out her pretty bows and yelling "I SUCK YOURS BLOOD" cause she is Charlotte the Spider from Charlotte's Web. I'll blog a little more about her birthday party later this week. We celebrated it on Sunday while my Mom was in town. I wanted to thank Kellie for my beautiful picture montage. It just melts my heart. I wish they would not grow up so fast!

When Doctors say "Huh"....

I don't think there is anything more terrifying to a parent than hearing that one short sound come from a Doctor. Almost 4 years ago we heard our first "huh". I had taken Georgia in for a check up. I thought she had a UTI (which she did) and while the Doctor was examining her she goes "huh". I asked "What". She asked if G had any more of the large cafe au lait spots on her. I said "Yes, I was going to ask at her well child check up next month". I saw this friendly, all smiles Doctor change and go into DOCTOR mode. There is a difference between being "Doctor" and "DOCTOR".

I got a second "huh" today. I took G in for her well child appointment today and the Doctor did that "huh" while listening to her heart. He asked me if there were in changes in G's activity level. Needless to say my heart skipped a beat. I have had concerns. She has stopped wanting to ride her bike (which is HUGE), stopped wanting to walk much, started having me "feel" her heart that was racing, telling me no certain activities because she was "too tired right now". This has all happened within the last 6 mths or so. Just little things that now seem so huge with that small sound that Doctors make...."huh". The Doctor said is was a small sound. Just something that we needed to look at. G goes in for her heart check tomorrow. I so wish I could wave a wand and the spots would disappear, that there would be no speech problems, or eye problems, or teeth problems, and now heart problems.

Send a few prayers (ok, a lot of prayers) our way for tomorrow.

Happy Father's Day!

My Dad died over 4 years ago. I have so many wonderful memories of my Dad. Looking back I have come to appreciate the wisdom he had and passed on to us. I was lucky enough to recognize what a wonderful man he was and told him so many times during the last years I had with him. He was a great man and a wonderful Father. I miss you, Dad.

My kids are lucky enough to have a great Father also. I love watching him with the kids. He will play the piano with the baby....

And "swim" (so called swim because as soon as he gets in the water they all dog pile the poor man) with the older ones.

Happy Father's Day Sweetie! You are the best!

Sisters, Nothing Like Having a Sister...

They are Sisters

They are sisters
some for many years,

They have laughed together
And have cried many tears.

They have had harsh words,
That they may have regret

But they will stick together
a force the world has not yet met!

And I miss mine a lot!

Just a Grillin' and a Chillin'....

One of the biggest things I've missed about being in Arkansas is grilling and having fun with friends. At least once a month during the summer, sometimes twice, we would have everyone over to grill, hang out and have fun with friends. I really, really miss that. The good news is that we rescued a grill from destruction (our neighbor bought a new one and he set is old out on the curb for trash pick up, LOL) and have started grilling again. Have Grill and the friends will come.

The kids are in the midst of summer break. It will be a short one this year compared to previous ones. We have moved to a school that does year round school year so their summer is only 6 weeks long (did you hear the hallelujah chorus just then??). They love to laze around and watch movies....

One of the nice things we discovered here is that their swimming pools cost the kids .25. Twenty-Five Cents! Who knew you could still do something fun on a quarter. AND because I wasn't swimming (Silvia was cutting a tooth and the water was still too cool for her) they didn't charge me a thing. Go figure on that one.

That is her "Nope, you are NOT going to check my gums 1 more time!" look.

The water was still pretty cold. Charlotte was the only one that didn't seems fazed by it at all. Georgia was out shivering about half way through the swimming experience.
